Hi, nice to meet you!

My Thirty-One Story

In September 2007, my husband and I was praying for a job for myself that would allow me to stay home with our children and where I would still make enough money for those extra things we want as a family.  That Sunday we were sitting on the back porch swinging after church and lunch and my husband said "I think you need to sell Thirty-One."  I said you've got to be kidding, I can't sell purses.  I had just been introduced to the company and loved the products and monogramming.  But I knew it wasn't possible for me to succeed because, I'm not that thin, beautiful, fun personality that can sell anyone anything - I'm just me.  Well I thought what do I have to lose, I had already booked a show for myself, I could at least make my money I would be paying for my kit.  So that Labor Day I signed up to be a Thirty-One consultant.  Back then the kits took 3-4 weeks to arrive, that would be just in time for my first show.  I changed that show to two days, so noone had an excuse not to come.  I asked friends and family to book shows with me to help get me started and I sold over $1100 those two show dates.  Wow, that was over $250 on my check and it had only cost me $99 plus shipping and taxes.  So I started getting a little excited and thought okay, this is fun maybe I can do it.  My next paycheck was over $800 and I just kept doing pretty good.  At least I could make enough to have some spending money.

That January, I listened to a call that was offered by Thirty-One and was challenged to truly work my business as if my business only depended on me and it ended with a 24 hour booking blitz, I booked 14 shows and had alot of maybes.  I was thinking maybe I can really do this.

My sales picked up and my schedule stayed full.  That May things started dying down again and I thought okay booking blitz, I would not accept the fact that everybody is too busy.  I booked my May and had the biggest month ever.  Maybe this is possible for even me.

June, wow this was an awesome month.  We had National Conference, I showed up and people when I passed would say "That's Susan Towery."  Yeh, that's me, why does everybody think I'm someone special.  At National Conference they always have an award night and Cindy recognizes us.  I was amazed at how many times my name was mentioned.  I was doing this and it was possible. Yes all women loves recognition.

Well that was the beginning and now over six years later I'm a Senior Executive Director and floating on air, my team is growing at a phenomenal rate. I am seeing their dreams come true one at a time and I'm so proud to be able to celebrate with them.

I thank God He brought me to this business. My husband has always worked 52-60 hours every week and a little over a month ago he cut his hours to 40, which he could have done the summer of 2010. Now he is down to 32 the minimum to full time. We are looking for the day to retire soon.  This is so strange to him, that he even asks me what can he do for me to be getting to come home.

I have worked my business, listened to everything that was offered for me to listen to and wouldn't let failure come into the picture.  I am honored to have a wonderful team to teach and learn from.  I won a $2000 Disney trip my first year, my second, third and fourth year I chose a $2000 Apple card for a new laptop, fifth year was split Best Buy and American Express and this year I've chosen Best Buy. I have also won a Leadership trip to Riveria Maya and two to Can, Mexico and one to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. I got to gift the trip to a guest to come with me, two years my husband and the last two were my daughter-in-law and step daughter. Yes, all for free. I was chosen to be on the National Advisory Council in 2008, the Presidential Advisory Council in 2009 & 2010 and Leadership Council every year since starting. In 2012, I became a Founding Member of Thirty-One Gives Council and wow, what a blessing. I was featured in one of our catalogs.  I have been recognized several times and it has helped my self esteem and has grown me as the confidant women I am today.  I have made some of the most awesome friends.

Today, one of the things I'm most blessed with is to Give, because we have a choice.

Who am I?  I am you.
