Pinecone owl craft template

This fun kids' project using felt and pinecones is a cute way to decorate your home for fall and winter. Star anise feet make these crafty little critters look extra special (and smell great)!

Use pinecone owls to dress up your holiday mantel, Thanksgiving table centerpiece, Christmas tree, front door wreath – anywhere you want to add a touch of whimsy with these sweet forest friends. (We loved them so much, we featured them in our 2018-19 Crafting Mini Catalog!)

Materials to make pinecone owls
How-to
  1. Start by printing out the free template. Cut out the shapes, and trace them onto your felt.
  2. Using the hot glue gun, assemble the faces and wings as shown on the template – or get super-creative and mix them up! (Always supervise kids when using a glue gun, or do this step yourself.)
  3. Holding each pinecone upside down, glue on a wood ball “head” and two star anise “feet.” Then attach the assembled faces to the wood balls and two wings to the sides of each pinecone.
