10 Ways to Celebrate National Gratitude Month
November is National Gratitude Month, a time to celebrate and give thanks. It encourages us to embrace the power of positivity and kindness by celebrating the blessings in our lives.
November is also Military Family Month and Role Model Month. Take a moment to thank a servicemember and their family for their service and sacrifice, and express gratitude to the many role models in your life such as a parent, grandparent, teacher, or coach.
To help share a sentiment of gratitude and appreciation, our Picture Perfect Ornaments include personalization to show how much you care.
1. Keep a gratitude journal
Write about someone or something you're thankful for every day. You'll find your appreciation for those around you grows deeper the longer you keep it.
💡 When you’re faced with a challenge, read back on what you've written to reinforce a healthy mindset.
2. Tell someone how much you appreciate them
Letting someone know you're grateful for their love, care, service, mentorship, or friendship will lift their spirits.
👉🏼 A handwritten note will make someone’s day!
3. Pay it forward with a compliment or gracious gesture
Holding a door open, expressing a compliment, or greeting someone with a smile are all simple ways to show compassion toward others.
💡 Small gestures of kindness help fuel a grateful heart.
4. Give back to your community, neighborhood, or favorite organization
Volunteering your time, talent, or treasure is a great way to show your gratitude for others.
👉🏼 Volunteering helps foster humility and fellowship.
5. Make a gratitude drawing
Create a drawing of some of the people or things you are most thankful for. Hang your drawing on the fridge as a reminder of your gratitude.
💡 This is a great family activity at holiday time to get the kids involved!
6. Set an intention for the day
Write down your intention by choosing a specific focus or purpose for the day.
👉🏼 If you set intentions for each day, you’ll be more likely to complete them.
7. Say, “thank you!”
In your transactions with cashiers, servers, baristas and others, take the time to look them in the eye and really thank them.
💡 Showing gratitude is as important as gratuity.
8. Live in the present
Focusing on the here and now helps practice mindfulness and gratitude.
👉🏼 People feel more grateful when they’re not dwelling on the past or stressing about the future.
9. Be thankful for what you have
Reflecting on what you’re grateful for each day allows you to have more compassion for others and for yourself.
💡 Things that go wrong don’t define you. Silver linings are everywhere.
10. Appreciate the little things
Start the day with a great cup of coffee, listen to a favorite podcast, read a new book, or schedule lunch with a friend.
👉🏼 It’s the little things that can easily go unrecognized so take some time to focus on them!
