Take action during Mental Health Awareness Month

When it comes to living a happy and healthy life, it’s easy to think about our physical health first: Are we eating enough veggies? Getting in that daily walk? Taking our vitamins? Sometimes we forget that taking care of our mental health is just as important!

And adults aren’t the only ones who can struggle with their mental health – according to the National Institute of Mental Health, 1 in 5 kids has a mental illness. This May, help us celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month and join the On Our Sleeves™ movement to transform children’s mental health.

Happy Face

What it means: Smiles are associated with happiness and joy – plus, they’re contagious! Without a word, a smile lets you show the world you’re in a good mood. This Happy Face icon inspired our On Our SleevesTM Smile Icon-ItTM.

On May 2, send mail to someone who has positively impacted you. This is sure to put a smile on their face! Encourage your kids to do the same!

Peace Sign

What it means: Since originating in the late 1950s, the peace sign has come to represent calmness, rational thinking and being grounded. This easy-going icon is front and center on our Keepsake Journal, the perfect place to share what’s on your mind.

On May 5, set aside 10 minutes for prayer or meditation. These simple acts can help clear your head and promote peace of mind, especially during stressful times.

Rainbow

What it means: The storm may be rough, but after it’s over the rainbow shines bright. Rainbows represent hope and the uplifting spirit that gets us through hard times; they let us know there is always something beautiful ahead. Find the Rainbow alongside other icons in our On Our SleevesTM print.

On May 11, have your own 3-minute dance party! Get your kids to join in and let loose.

Full Heart

What it means: The Full Heart symbolizes love, family and friendship. Every heart is unique and capable of learning, growing, giving and having purpose.

On May 18, prepare dinner together as a family. Slowing down and spending quality time together is a great way to remind yourself of all your blessings.
